The Health Collaborative

Luncheon Meeting Speaker - August 21, 2018:  Rachel Silber, an AmeriCorps Volunteer in Service to America working through the Health Collaborative in the Dan River Region, spoke to the Chatham Rotary Club about her work to develop and bolster our local food system.  Focusing primarily on Caswell County, Danville, and Pittsylvania County, Rachel will endeavor over the next year to close gaps in the local food system that have been identified by previous Health Collaborative studies.  To do so, she will bring together key constituents--community activists, thought leaders, producers, officials, Extension agents, and consumers--to develop and begin to execute Action Plans that purport to facilitate local food commerce, educate citizens about the economic and health benefits of local food, and increase access to healthy, local foods across all socio-economic segments of our local population.
Rachel's presentation was coordinated by Chatham Rotarian Amy Davis.
