Cattle Agribusiness in Pittsylvania County

Extension Agent Becky Roberts spoke at the Sept. 25 Rotary meeting about Cattle Agribusiness in Pittsylvania County and its importance to the County’s past, present and future economic development. The County is ranked 10th overall in the state for Cattles sales – and growing. In addition, the County is ranked 4th in the state for Dairy Production. This is a significant amount of farm positive economic impact to the County and which continues to grow. There is an active cattle association in the County, the Pittsylvania County Cattlemen’s Association, that serves to support new, growing and established cattle businesses. There are several important cattle events coming up this fall in the County and into next year which point to a vibrant and growing agribusiness within the County.
